W
ith the season drawing into a close, and all but a few of the
competitions now behind us, it left me wondering where this
summer went. Commitments outside of wake left me not being
able to make a lot of the comps this year- something I was really looking
forward to. At the same time I look back at how far the sport has come
this year, with the introduction of comps like Winchfest, wakeboarding
back on TV in the form of AirTime and the standard of riding coming
through from the grommets of yesteryear. With this in mind I think
next year is going to be insane. There’s alot of changes going down
in the wakeboard scene; including the return of some old faces, the
introduction of some new ones, and the ongoing support of the ol’
timers. Despite economic downturns and the advertising and sponsorship
budgets that help fund our athletes and events being cut, It’s a good time
to be a part of wakeboarding in NZ and I’m proud to be a part of it.
Looking onwards to winter, and the start of the US comp season. We’ll
be pumping out one more edition this year to keep you going into the
colder months, and then a fresh edition for the start of next season in the
form of another printed gear guide.
