Forward Wakeboard Magazine Edition 5 | Page 22

H eading back to Australia I headed to Penrith Cables park with a new job offer with a certain wake boat company… and over the past few years I’ve always wondered what life held for me after professional wakeboarding; Maybe this was to be my transition into regular life? So with a smile I went on my way for the postion and started right away. The job involved riding still, Demo’s, clinics around the country, sales etc. And being based right close to Penrith Cables Wakepark gave me a lot of time to ride with all the crew there which was defiantly the top advantage. Lots of things happened… the Defy Premiere, Boardstock, a new shop opening down in Ulladulla with Chris Oshea and myself and Haley smith heading down to do signings and take people out on the water. Photo shoots were had, and of course lots of travelling, so it was close to being pro, but with a 9-5 kinda feel. After 2 months though, I’d had enough… Getting a taste for the 9-5 thing just wasn’t where I wanted to be just yet and to be honest it re-ignited my passion for wake. It’s funny how if you do something for so long, even if you have it really good you can get complacent. But there’s nothing like a little dose of reality to really show you how good you’ve had it and how much you want to keep that dream alive… So back on the band wagon I go… chasing sponsors, travelling, meeting people from all over the world and most of all sharing the love for wakeboarding wherever I can. Hopefully I can get some new projects rolling that will be exciting to watch. Stay tuned, and don’t let the cold water stop you from riding this winter… Get a dry suit, get out there and enjoy the butter and un-crowded water ways. Jeff
