I headed down to WakeJam after riding the previous day in Twizel,
which was pretty lucky as my sources who told me the comp was being
held in ‘Cromwell’ may have slightly under-estimated the travel time
to Miller’s flat! The site for WakeJam was well and truley out in the
sticks (that is if you exclude the buzzing town of Ettrick). But boy was
the travel worth it for a chance to hit the lake, which stayed glassy
all day long! The setting was perfect, no wind, and the sun came
out just as the riding started kicking off behind the weighted Malibu
VLX provided by WakeTours of Queenstown. The turn-out from the
wakeboarders was pretty good, although it has to be said that the
skaters dominated on the day, with the Mens Skate division having
about 15 entries. Riders got under-way as part of the ‘Free Ride’
format for the comp, which worked really well, allowing the riders to
showcase themselves to the best of
