cutting-end trends and insights delivered by renowned HR
practitioners within the region. Secondly, it provided an
excellent networking opportunity to the attendees, letting
them learn through experience sharing.
This year, the key focus of the summit aligned perfectly
with the trends that are currently being viewed upon as the
most challenging areas of global people management. The
keynote speeches were based on organizational climate for
creativity and innovation, employee engagement in an agile
workplace, and talent management driven by information
that’s accessible by employees via social platforms.
The sixth consecutive “SLASSCOM People Summit”,
organized by the SLASSCOM HR Forum, was held on
January 27, 2016 at Cinnamon Grand Hotel, Colombo. The
focus of this year was to provide some key HR insights and
perspectives to the industry leaders to guide them through
2016 and beyond. The sessions evolved around facing today’s
challenges with novel approaches that make HR more agile,
forward thinking and bolder.
The second half of the summit included two interactive
workshops conducted in parallel focusing on unleashing the
potential of a multi-generational culture; secondly on shifts in
employee engagement approaches and expectations around
HR role and capabilities. The workshops were conducted by
renowned training and consultation organizations- Franklin
Covey and QAI Global and both the workshops were well
received by participants.
The event was well attended by over 200 HR professionals
and business leaders representing IT/BPM and other
industries. The Summit’s objectives were twofold – firstly,
