AGE 27 LOCATION Katy, Texas OCCUPATION Marketing Specialist/Hair & Makeup Artist HOBBIES Dancing, puzzles, trying new restaurants, and taking my dogs (AKA my babies) on walks. FUN FACT ABOUT YOURSELF I have the biggest sweet tooth that can only be satisfied by lots and lots of chocolate! When did you first learn you had Scoliosis? When I was 15 years old during a physical examination trying out for my high school dance team. The word “scoliosis’ was foreign to me and sounded almost fatal to my young, teenage self! After meeting with a doctor, I learned that it was nowhere near fatal (DUH!), I could still dance (PHEW!), and it just needed to be regularly monitored. How did it affect your daily life? Is it painful? Initially, it didn’t affect me too much; however, the longer I live and more I train, the more painful it is in my back. I have been to many doctors who all have different suggestions to try to relieve the pain- but there is no one answer and the scoliosis can’t be reversed. The main thing that seems to help is getting regular chiropractic adjustments and massages (no complaints here). Since my spine is shaped like an “S” it makes my whole body a little crooked. One of my shoulders is higher than the other which makes my hips, waist, and even legs uneven. I simply have to be aware of this and know that my clothes will fit a little differently than most, that one of the soles in my shoes will wear down faster than the other, and that I have a good side for pictures (my right side)!
