Maxwell Sims ( He 1947-1949 ) celebrated his 88th birthday in March 2021 .
Francis ‘ Frank ’ Brown ( SG 1946-1953 ) passed away in Gibson , B . C , Canada , on 31 May 2021 , at the age of 84 . Fondly known as ‘ Gandhi 3 ’, Frank boarded at the Preparatory School and St George ’ s House , and was an exceptional soloist with the GGS Choir . Frank went to Canada in 1958 , married and had two children . Upon graduating from university , he worked in provincial schools at Prince George and Vancouver , becoming a Superintendent . On retiring , Frank had a successful toy shop at Sechelt . His passion was large yachts . Frank returned to Western Australia many times to visit family and friends .
James ‘ Kaye ’ Greenham ( St 1953-1958 ) was recently inducted into Baseball WA ’ s Hall of Fame . This accolade is in addition to his earlier induction into the Australian Baseball Hall of Fame . See the full article in this edition of the Forward .
John Petersen ( Wb 1961-1964 ) retired in 2014 after working for 49 years . He is living in Esperance and looking after his aged in-laws . John is still taking care of a cottage in Esperance called ‘ Quays Escape ’ which is bookable via Airbnb . If you are wanting accommodation , it is 50m from the beach and offers very good rates .
Patrick Lamont ( Prep / St / Ha 1960-1966 ) sadly passed away unexpectedly at home on 24 April 2020 .
Kim Ledger ( Wb 1962-1967 ) and John Di Candilo ( Fr 1969-1973 ) organised for the classic Ducati Sport 1000 , once belonging to Hollywood icon Heath Ledger ( Wb 1987-1996 ) to be imported so that it could be restored , serviced and maintained . The motorcycle itself is a phenomenal machine , boasting incredible power , sleek vintage detailing and , of course , a rich history . Previously featured at the Heath Ledger : A Life in Pictures exhibition in 2017 , it is hoped that the motorcycle shall reappear as an exhibit at the new Museum of Western Australia .
Bernard ‘ Ben ’ Grummels ( St 1966-1969 ) worked on the island of Aitutak in the Cook Islands for 10 years . He went there as an Australian Volunteer International as head of the high school science department . Ben also
Lachlan Madden ( Wb 2014-2018 ) received a Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award from Governor General David Hurley , Canberra .
worked in Qatar and wrote a science training curriculum for the Qatar General Petroleum Corporation , the national oil company . In addition , Ben has worked at the WA School of Mines . Since 1999 , Ben has been working as a Digital Marketing and SEO specialist in Perth ( https :// seoperth . expert ).
Peter May ( Fr 1967-1972 ) has retired in Toowoomba from a career in software development . He is keen to catch up with Old Guildfordians , especially those from mighty Freeth House .
Stewart Jackson ( Prep 1969-1974 ) is now an academic at the University of Sydney , recently promoted to Senior Lecturer , and currently the Chair of the Department of Government and International Relations . Stewart will remain Chair until mid-next year , having navigated the department through much of the COVID-19 period ... not something he would encourage people to do .
Mark Gregory ( Fr 1975-1979 ) is currently an Associate Professor in Network Engineering at the School of Engineering at RMIT University in Melbourne , Australia . He is a Fellow of Engineers Australia and a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc . Mark has been the founding director of several companies that provide IT services , systems and software development . He is the Managing Editor of the Journal of Telecommunications and the Digital Economy and General Chair of the International
Telecommunication Networks and Applications Conference .
Geoffrey Pratt ( St 1975-1979 ) sadly passed away at Bethesda Hospital in Claremont on 25 February 2021 , aged 58 , after a two-year illness . He was a talented sportsman , being a member of the 1st XI Cricket team and 1st XI Hockey team , as well as a member of the Interschool Athletics squad and ‘ A ’ Chess . Following school , Geoff had a successful career as an executive manager in heavy haulage with Brambles Manford , and transport logistics and quarry management for the mining industry . Geoff married in the School Chapel in 1986 and is survived by his first wife , Eileen and their two sons , Evan and Eric and his second wife , Danielle , and their daughters , Chloe and Ella .
Alan Lovelle ( Wb 1979-1981 ) and his wife , Julie , have made the move back to Perth after many years living in Cairns and on the east coast . To make the journey more interesting , they drove from Cairns through outback Queensland and across the Plenty Highway to Alice Springs . From there Alan and Julie drove the longest shortcut on the Great Central Road to Kalgoorlie and on to Perth . Some of the countryside and dirt roads were amazing .

Jarron Baker ( He 1986-1988 ) married Monia Toscano in the School ’ s Chapel on 14 November 2020 .
