AROUND THE SCHOOL

Music and dance for Eagles and Force

Our Music students and Boodjar Bidi Dancers had a busy few weeks early in Term 2 , performing at two high profile sporting events : a West Coast Eagles match and a Western Force match !
The first event , on 17 March , was at the Waalitj Dreaming Game where the West Coast Eagles played against Melbourne at Optus Stadium .
This special match paid tribute to this year ’ s National Reconciliation Week theme –
“ Grounded in Truth : Walk Together with Courage ”, and started with a march to the stadium from the Bridge Bar in Gloucester Park .
Before the match , students walked our giant eagle puppet around the stadium , after which Amos Smith ( 12St ) played the didgeridoo and the Boodjar Bidi dancers performed in front of the packed stadium .
The second event was held on Friday 31 May , for the Indigenous Appreciation Match between the Western Force and Kagifa Samoa . In the lead up to this event , Western Force players visited the School to work with our Indigenous students on painting their boots to celebrate the match . The handpainted boots were later auctioned to raise money for the Earbus Foundation .
Our music students and Boodjar Bidi Dancers played a major role in the pre-show entertainment , showcasing their talents to an international audience .
Our thanks and appreciation to everyone involved in providing these amazing experiences for our students .
