Your P & F committees have had a very busy start to the year . We have supported some amazing events such as the P & F Sundowner and Broadway on the Swan and assisted in funding projects and activities within the School . I will share details of these projects later in the article , but I would like to start by taking the time to thank our hardworking volunteers within the P & F Sub-committees .
When you attend events at the School a lot of work goes on behind the scenes by volunteers from our various committees . This work can include ordering equipment , cooking food at sporting events and painting stage props for our school productions . These volunteers are the key to making our school so special .
It is great to see so many people putting up their hand to offer help in their own time . I am sure you have seen those familiar faces at many events , serving food or cold drinks , breakfasts and morning teas to parents and students at sporting events . They deserve a big thank you from us all for the time and effort they put into the School .
In March , the P & F held our funding request meeting . We were inundated with requests from teachers and school committees for funding for events , activities and equipment . We had the difficult task of balancing funding across the School , but after much discussion we approved approximately $ 80,000 of events and equipment . Some have been listed below .
• Electronic equipment for Priestley Hall
• Box trailer
• Low ropes course for Stronghills
• Golf driving range
• Visiting artist – John Hoffman
• Parent art classes
• Table tennis table and BBQ for the boarding houses
• Climate Clever School for the Senior School
• Senior School House equipment and furniture
• School benches for the Preparatory School
• Cultural experiences for Senior School students - ballet , opera and concerts
As you can see we have tried to fund a range of infrastructure and cultural activities across the whole school . Whilst equipment is important for the School , we also need to invest in cultural initiatives to enrich our community .
