Winter at before school care ( a treat for busy parents )
The mornings are cold and getting colder . This season in our oncampus before school care program , we have a warm breakfast and a great program to get children ready for the day . In addition to the fun and friends , we make sure children arrive at before school sport or music on time , or if they come to us after their early activities , they can have a warm breakfast and maybe a warm milo or milk and get ready for the day . We have cereals , toast and fruit each day . On Fridays , we have pancakes . If mum or dad want , they can grab a coffee and go ( and maybe take a muffin or piece of fruit )! Just bring your own keep cup .
After School – the art program and the drawing club The children have produced a large body of work including paintings , photographs and drawings , which are now exhibited as part of our Art Gallery . We have produced an Exhibition catalogue to ensure that the story of each work is told . The artistic influences of Van Gough and Matisse are clearly on show . We have art options each day as well as free choice . The children are incredibly proud of their works .
This month we are also taking the 2-dimensional influences off the screen and the page and are producing 3D art including clay sculpture . This is to take children beyond what they see passively , into what they can do actively .
The senior program has a new lounge Ask any of the Years 4 , 5 and 6 children and they will say they love playing with the little kids , but they need their own space too ! That is just what we are providing them ! The new Lounge is right next door to the stunning Preparatory School Library and the kids are currently designing their own program and setting the room up for their own after school program . They will have all of the usual after school activities but now including much more for older kids .
The Educators that your children know so well In May we said goodbye to Dee as she moved on to new goals after 5 ½ years here . We thank her for her dedication - and for her delicious cooking .
On a happy note , we welcome 2 new Educators , Tia and Ellen .
• Tia is working with the older children in the new Lounge next to the Prep Library , you can meet her there – follow the sounds of the laughter !
• Ellen is working with the younger children and can be found playing chasey most days with her devoted group of little runners !
We also congratulate :
• Bec , often found running our art program , Bec has just qualified as a Speech Pathologist and we couldn ’ t be prouder of her !
• Andrew , who is now the Team Leader for the Junior program . Guildford Grammar Play Group At the Play Group , parents can talk and enjoy meeting other parents . We have a morning tea and relax in our lovely old house on the school campus .
Parents can try new things they want to do with their children and get some new ideas on play experiences . Warning – grown up art time can cause infectious laughter ! Children have new experiences each fortnight and play in the natural playground . They make new friends and laugh and learn through the play experiences . We can talk sleep ( your and your child ’ s ), nutrition , myths , and child development . We have some fantastic resources available on parenting , art , reading stories and screen time .
