Swimming Carnivals

The Dolphin and Quarter Swimming Carnivals were held on 2 April 2019 . The weather was beautiful and the atmosphere was alive and ready for competition ! Our exciting commentator , Ms Marsh , gave us some great 80s disco music to encourage the excitement . There was a great crowd of family and friends , getting their cameras up and ready to film our enthusiastic swimmers !
The day began with the Dolphin Carnival where our Year 1 , 2 and 3 students participated in several races including the noodle and kickboard races as well as Freestyle , Breaststroke and Backstroke . The energy and enthusiasm was fabulous and a great way to start our day of swimming .
Next was the Quarter Carnival for students in Years 4 , 5 and 6 . Everyone was so excited for the races . There were many races including , Breaststroke , Freestyle and Butterfly . We were all pumped for the races and we were in top form ! We all had a lot of fun and there were some particularly good swims , including two records broken . Piper Dowe broke the Year 4 Girls 50m Breaststroke Record with a new time of 54.54 seconds and the Year 4 Girls 50m Freestyle Record with a new record of 43.54 seconds .

• Most Improved ( Lattice Cup ) – Adoni Zhang ( S )
• Most Outstanding Boy ( Kershaw Cup ) – James Park ( S )
• Most Outstanding Girl ( Kershaw Cup ) – Ella McCrum ( N )
• Relay Champion Quarter ( Moore Cup ) – South
• Champion Quarter ( Manners Cup ) – South
Now , let ’ s recap the results ! In 4th place was East coming in with 1174 points , in 3rd place was North coming in with 1328 points , in 2nd place was West coming in with 1451 , and finally coming in 1st was South with 1494 points ! Well done South !
But not of all the Swimming Carnival was held in the water , there were lots of people behind the scenes organising this big event . A special thanks to Mr Griffiths , Mrs Hewett and all the Preparatory School Staff . Thank you for organising the event and cheering us on ! Some of the Year 6 group helped with the swimming carnival as well , including all the Sport Monitors and the Quarter Captains – thank you all !
