SENIOR SCHOOL
Erica Bell My most memorable moment in the Senior School so far was the Year 7 camp . On the last day we had to present our pancake for the most creative pancake challenge . This moment was special to me because it was a lot of fun to cook the pancakes and it was a team effort . Our pancake was meant to be a monster . It had lifesaver eyes and a redskin forked tongue . We didn ’ t win but I had an amazing time .
My favourite subject so far in the Senior School is English . This is mostly because I really like our teacher , Mr Williams , because he makes everything fun . I also like my classroom , which is full of posters and colour . We have fun activities and play argument games which helps us to learn a lot . I never really liked English because I wasn ’ t very good at it , but since I have been at the Senior School it has become one of my favourite subjects and I have been improving my results .
Some of the new opportunities I have experienced include robotics , woodwork and Let ’ s Go Digital . So far , I have enjoyed all of my electives and can ’ t wait to try out all of the others . One of the things I love about the Senior School is that it is very open and there is a lot of space . One of the things I found challenging about the Senior School was trying to get to classes on time when they are on the other side of the school !
I have really enjoyed my transition to the Senior School because of all the fun and exciting opportunities that we are given to learn new skills in our electives and also core subjects such as English that are a lot of fun too . I am looking forward to my future years at Guildford Grammar School .
Marshall Pymont My most memorable moment from Term 1 was the first day . Although some people say it is the most nerve-wracking moment , I thought it was great because everyone was so helpful and I got to see the Guildford culture that everyone talks about .
The aspects that I love about the Senior School are the freedom , the culture , the respect for everyone and the teachers . The teachers are really nice so there is no reason to be worried . The transition from the Preparatory School to the Senior School has been smooth for me and I think my friends coming from different schools have also had a smooth transition .
My favourite subject is woodwork , which I did for Term 1 . It was an interesting subject because I learnt how to operate different machines and how to be safe around them . My favourite core subject is Science , especially chemical sciences , because we do lots of experiments .
The Guildford Grammar School culture is a respectful one and everyone cares about you . My two top tips for new students would be :
• Get organised with all of your stuff
• Listen to all your teachers so you don ’ t miss any information .
All of the new students coming to Guildford Grammar School should not be worried at all because it is a great place with great people .
Chanell Garlett My most memorable moment of Term 1 was the athletics carnival because of all the events I was able to participate in and the location of the carnival .
The aspect of the Senior School I like the most is all the amazing programs and subjects , such as the netball program for the girls . I enjoyed the transition from primary school to high school because many of the teachers and staff made it easy for me to transition into the programs at Guildford Grammar School .
My favourite subject so far is English because my teacher is amazing and the class atmosphere makes it easy for me to learn . I also enjoy the things we do and learn in class . Guildford Grammar School is very multi-cultural with the programs we do here . The two tips I would give a new student starting at Guildford Grammar School are : 1 . Don ’ t be nervous 2 . High school is not as bad as you think it will be !
