Broadway on Swan
It really was the greatest show !
Broadway on Swan was held on a beautiful evening on the second last day of Term 1 , on the banks of the Swan River . Our music students and staff once again put on an outstanding show , with members of the Guildford Grammar Symphony Orchestra ( GGSO ) and some of our talented vocalists performing from a playlist of Broadway hits for an audience of over 700 people .
This year ’ s concert followed the successful format of the last two concerts : 2017 ’ s Symphony on Swan and 2018 ’ s Retro on Swan . This year the P & F was more involved in the event , with members of three parent committees , Guildford Arts Supporters ( GAS ), Friends of the Senior School ( FOSS ) and Friends of the Preparatory School ( FOPS ) all offering support on the night .
With a huge dark rain cloud rapidly heading across the Flats towards the Boat Shed just before the gates opened , we were fearful that the event would be rained out , but the light shower passed quickly leaving barely a drop of water !
This year the P & F Society funded some children ’ s activities before the concert so that families could come along straight after school . The GGS Catering Team cooked up some delicious meals for families to purchase including paella , pulled pork and hot chips , and FOSS and FOPS provided dessert , with hot donuts and pretzels available at one stand and GGS ice cream and coffee at the other .
