Inter-House Athletics Carnival
On Friday 5 April , 2019 , Guildford Grammar School held its Inter-House Athletics Championship at the State Athletics Centre in magnificent weather and with the expectation of a closely contested event .
All Houses were well represented and the entire Senior School cohort travelled by bus to the venue to compete on the day . This is a large logistical operation , but after some transport issues in the morning and with a tight timeline scheduled for the day , the carnival was soon underway with the playing of the National Anthem .
The program has grown to reflect the increase in girls joining the School , whilst still maintaining the traditional events for the boys . A combination of the 1500m races with the hurdle events at the start of the meet and 800m events with the 100m races assisted in condensing the program .
Some notable performances on the day were :
• Abbygail Bushby ( 8Be ) who set five records on the day
• Ellen Kozlowska ( 12Sc ) and Eleanor Disselkoen ( 10St ) who set four records on the day
• Lemarna Valentine ( 8Wb ) who set three records on the day
• Arnold Trinder ( 7Ha ) who set a new record in the shot put
