PROFILE
Tim Cocks
Director of Finance
Mr Tim Cocks started at the School as the
Director of Finance at the start of 2018,
taking over from the Bursar, Mr Kent Peters,
who relocated to Canberra at the end of
2017.
What I like about Guildford
Grammar School
1. Staff: The staff are very passionate
about the School and the role they
play in preparing our students for the
future.
Tim has enjoyed a diverse career, working
in senior finance roles in organisations
including ABN Group, CBH Group, Gull
Petroleum, PricewaterhouseCoopers and
most recently at Optus Stadium.
2. Pastoral care: Kent Peters briefed me
on pastoral care before I joined the
school and seeing it in action every
day it is even better than I expected.
The students are very lucky to have
access to this level of care.
As the Director of Finance, Tim provides
strong strategic financial, governance and
operational leadership across the School.
He has a broad portfolio and is responsible
for property administration, the Medical
Centre, food and beverage, transport,
governance and of course finance!
3. School community: From my short
time here I have been amazed at the
strength and support of the wider
school community. It certainly adds to
the richness of the school experience.
Tim is passionate about strategic execution
and true staff engagement along with staff
career development.
Tim was motivated to apply for the Director
of Finance role by the School’s melding of
strong traditional values and its exciting
“Go Forward” vision. He sees innovation
and accountability as important attributes in
maintaining our values in the fast-paced and
ever changing world in which we now live.
Mr Tim Cocks
Outside of work, Tim is married with three
teenage children, two of whom are still at
school. He is a keen hockey player and in
his spare time enjoys spending time with
friends and family, travel and history.
4. Reputation: The school enjoys an
excellent reputation in the education
sector. This is in part due to the
staff, past and present, who have
contributed greatly over the years to
make the School what it is today, and
will be well beyond tomorrow.
5. Morning tea: The morning tea is great
and so far I have managed to keep
the “Guildford 5” (kilos!) at bay!
