CHAPLAIN ’ S REPORT
20 June and sing a choral setting of the Eucharist the following Sunday morning . Just as importantly through the dedication and fine organisational skills of the Community Relations Office team , Mr Richie Longson , Director , Mrs Gillian MacDonald , Mr David Williams , Jodie de Freitas and Oscar Wharton , we were able to invite all of the boarding families and Old Guildfordians from the York region to the services and to a splendid meal on the Saturday evening , kindly arranged by the Parish . We were also blessed that Transport Co-ordinator , Mr Gerrin Goodwin , himself an Old Guildfordian , kindly drove the bus to and from York . This year we are privileged to offer the same set of services but in 2016 we will be the guests of the Parish of St James in Moora where once again members of our talented Chapel Choir will sing and local servers assist in the leadership of worship .
The possibility and ultimate success of such projects says much about the way in which different sections and departments of the School are ready and able to work together for the benefit of all ; an undertaking which affects a quite diverse cross-section of the broader School community . These are wonderful occasions for our students , who delight in singing and not least for others ; and what a treat for local residents to hear choral music of a very high standard . If the number of photographs of servers kindly forwarded to me last year is any indication , there were many proud parents in the congregations !
This cooperation of school and parish represents an enjoyable and mutually beneficial means by which to recognise and support each other in the broader life
of the Church . Imagine how much greater that contribution and opportunity might be if all of our Anglican Schools with boarding communities and choirs were prepared to take a drive into the fascinating countryside of Western Australia and offer their talents for the joy of others and the building up of the Kingdom of God .

Persian carpet in the Chapel

What do you know ? The Chapel of St Mary and St George is home to many beautiful things , the reredos , tapestries and stained glass windows , plus the Persian carpet that is located in the Sanctuary , just to name a few .
Unfortunately , we have no knowledge or record of the Persian carpet or its history – how and when it came to be located in the Chapel . Hopefully a member of the Guildford Grammar School community may know its origins and can help shed some light on when it arrived in the Chapel .
If you are able to provide any information regarding the Persian carpet and its history please contact the Community Relations Office on either , 9377 9200 or communications @ ggs . wa . edu . au .
