SENIOR SCHOOL The Guildford Dragon’s Den Modelled on the successful ABC television show Dragon’s Den, Mr Wildman’s Year 7 boys took on the challenge of presenting their business pitches to a team of Guildford ‘dragons’ made up of Mr Webber, Mrs Goforth, Mr Prosser and Mr Creuzot. The room was a hive of nervous energy as the dragons settled in and the boys made last minute changes to their presentation and pitch. Six teams were now ready to take on the dragons: 1. Resculptured (recycled art) – Stuart Boyd and Dean Pilkadaris 2. Glare (technology) – Brandon Riganello, Fletcher Enman and Alistair Pace 3. Edge Games (games shop) – Alex Newcombe, Danial Newland and Leo Oldfield 4. Techno-Foods (3D printed food) – Alban Ridings, Aron Schneider and Luc Strathdee 5. Kuz Kustoms (car customization) – Lachy Grime, Jacob Armstrong and Zane Harding 6. Mickey Mike’s (milk bar) – Elijah Hewett, James Grey and Alex Hodgins Lachy Grime, Jacob Armstrong and Zane Harding deliver their pitch to the ‘dragons’. All of the teams did a great job presenting their pitches, outlining their requests for funding, proposed return on investment, setup and operating costs, business structure, marketing and advertising, sales projections and profit and loss projections. At the end of each pitch the boys faced a round of grueling questions from the dragons – all answered confidently and articulately. The teams had mixed success with the dragons. Techno Foods accepted an offer from Mr Webber of $20,000 for a 20% return, and Mikey Mike’s accepted an offer of $7,000 for a 10% return from Mrs Goforth. Mr Prosser was heard to bemoan his reluctance to invest in Edge Games, thinking he may have passed up a golden opportunity! Charlie’s Cricket Success 24 Charlie Cassell’s fantastic season of cricket has propelled his name into the Guildford Grammar School cricket record books. His tally of 401 Darlot Cup runs is the ninth highest of all time for the School, placing his name amongst some of the greatest cricketers to ever represent the School, including Tom Moody (Wb 79-83).
