Student leadership
in the Preparatory School 2015
“The quality of a leader is
reflected in the standards
they set for themselves.”
– Ray Kroc
Being elected as a Student Leader in the
Preparatory School is a tremendous honour, a
privilege, a wonderful opportunity to make a
difference – however one can never overlook
the challenges this opportunity presents our
young leaders. They realise that they will
constantly be tried and tested as they fulfil
their obligations and duties across the year.
We have significant expectations of our
young leaders – we have confidence in each
student leader that they can be respected by
all, are always ready to set a positive example
to their peers, are willing to lead by placing
service above self, that they show a keen
interest in the School as a whole and are
committed to being a servant of our School
and importantly, their peers.
In November of each year, our Year 4 to
6 students have the opportunity to elect
the School Captain, Head Boy and Head
Hannah, William and Joshua.
46
Girl for the following year – these roles are
announced at our Annual Prize Giving in a
meaningful ceremony, where the outgoing
leaders congratulate the incoming leaders
and wish them well for the year that lies
ahead.
At our Prize Giving in December 2014 we
were proud to announce that our 2015
Preparatory School Captain was William
Hutson, our Head Boy Joshua Cox and our
Head Girl Hannah Dell.
Early in the year our Year 4 to 6 students,
together with staff, cast their votes for the
new Councillors of our School – who would
join William, Joshua and Hannah as our
new Student Leadership group for 2015. At
our Councillor, Specialist Captains, Quarter
Captains and Monitors Induction Service held
in Priestley Hall we were delighted to induct
the following students as Preparatory School
Councillors: Tahlia Davis, Orlando De Santis,
Noah Dowe, Braydon Fernandes, Elijah
Hewett, Patrick Kerman, Zoe Langtry, Rupert
Lethbridge, Hannah MacLachlan, Rizvan Nair,
Alexander Newcombe, Aidan Parfitt, Sarah
Pinelli, Brayden Scully, Zoe Van Der Walt and
Earl Wijayananda.
The Quarter Captains are elected by Year
4 to 6 students in each Quarter, and these
votes are analysed by Quarter Coordinators
and Quarter staff. The following students
were inducted as our 2015 Quarter Captains
