SENIOR SCHOOL
A day in the life ...
We asked five students from our Senior School to document one day in their school life. Their stories highlight the broad range
of opportunities available to students.
James – Year 8
Joel – Year 10
My day starts as I make my way into the
St George’s House. As always, I greet Mr
Weston and walk into the St George’s
games room to battle one of my mates in a
gripping game of 8-ball pool. The Year 11s
also occupy the room, studying for their
impending exams, all the while watching the
game and offering some top class “banter”.
After inevitably being defeated once again,
the bell signals roll call. “Its mentor today,”
says Mr Western brightly. We then all shuffle
off in our various groups, the mumbling and
talkative mood continuing the entire way to
the Thwaites Centre and our mentor room.
My day started, as usual, earlier than most.
As I live in Toodyay, I have to be ready to
catch the bus to school by 7.00am. When I
arrived at school, I dumped my bags in my
locker and headed for Freeth House. After
playing table tennis for a while, parade
commenced and we were sent to Mentor.
During our Mentor session we were taught
effective ways to study for any upcoming
maths test we may have by our mentor, Mr
Naylor, until 9.00am then our normal class
periods began.
When we arrive, our relatively new mentor,
Ms Hildebrand, greets us cheerfully as we
enter the classroom and get out the board
games. Mentor really is a great time for us
to relax with friends, talk to our Mentor and
plan and set goals for the year and weeks
ahead. Our Mentor wishes us a good day
and we all set off in our various directions.
