Boys develop adverts for Anglicare
A group of Year 10 boys were involved in
a media project this term to design a print
advertisement promoting Anglicare.
Here is Julian Armenti’s (10St) report on the
project.
To start the process, the class reviewed the
guidelines that were sent to us by Anglicare
so that we were clear about the scope
of the project. With this now clear in our
minds, we broke into small groups of two
or three and brainstormed some possibilities
and ideas for our advertisement.
The next stage was to put pen to paper and
sketch our ideas so that we could visualise
how we wanted our advertisements to look.
Planning our advertisements made it easier
to organise our time, and prevented us
spending too much time in the field setting
up our photos and less time editing our
adverts.
Planning done, we borrowed the cameras
and took the photos we needed. We then
used the media lab computers to edit and
change the photos and to incorporate them
into our project.
Over the duration of the project we
regularly reviewed our advertisement to
make sure we were working with the
guidelines set out by Anglicare.
We were very happy with the final
advertisement, and learned a lot,
throughout the process.

Careers Expo March 2014
The Careers role in the School is supported by many groups.
In today’s society, careers continue to develop, change and be
developed in areas previously unknown. All efforts are made to
keep students aware of events and changes as they occur through
the daily notices, Bulletin and events held through the year
advertised on the Portal.
Currently we offer two onsite Mini Career Expos incorporating
Universities, TAFES, Group Trainers and other groups, run in
conjunction with Year 10 and 12 parent teacher nights. These have
proven to be successful and informative for the boys. The boys are
encouraged to research courses of interest to them and universities
or providers that will assist them with their future pathways.
