AROUND THE SCHOOL

Ups and Downs

Plenty has been said about the downside of 2020 , so let ’ s focus on the upside !
In June 2020 , our fundraising focus moved towards the immediate needs of some of our School community and a Bursary Appeal was launched to assist those families experiencing financial difficulties .
This was our first appeal for a very long time and one which indicates the start of a new philanthropic era at Guildford Grammar School . Thank you to everyone who responded so generously and helped our affected students stay at school , lessening the anxiety all round .
In difficult times we crave connection and value our relationships even more highly . We band together to help others , to give our lives meaning and a sense of purpose . We donate to help solve problems and to feel we have contributed to the greater good . Again , thank you .
Fortunately , amid the turmoil of 2020 , the construction of our fabulous new Boarding House continued , and it will be ready this term ! We are pleased to announce that the next philanthropic initiative will be launched imminently with naming opportunities available for the Boarding House . Everything from one of the buildings , to a student room , a paver and the sought-after big tree space ! This is an opportunity for you to leave your mark on the School .
Not only is 2021 going to be an exciting year for boarding , it also marks a significant year in Guilford Grammar School ’ s history . We are so thrilled that on 13 March 2021 , we will be able to come together to celebrate 125 Years of Guildford Grammar School at a long table dinner under the stars ! There will be plenty of catching up and dancing between the live and online auctions . Be sure to get tickets here : https :// guildford . ptly . com / longtable .

“ The new Boarding House will have amazing facilities , it ’ s going to look nicer too . I ’ m also excited for the Boarding House to be on the same side of the road as school , we will be able to explore the grounds so easily . The Boarding House will really be PART of the school , not separate .”
