Celebrating 125 years of Guildford Grammar School
This year , Guildford Grammar School will celebrate its 125th anniversary .
The Foundation of the School dates back to 1896 , when prominent West Australian , Charles Harper established a school to cater for the educational needs of his own children and those of the surrounding district , in his stately home at Woodbridge .
Classes commenced in the billiard room at Woodbridge , under the guidance of the School ’ s first Headmaster , Mr Frank Bennett , with the first students mainly being sons and daughters of local families . The class quickly grew from 14 students to 35 , spilling onto the verandahs . The Guildford Grammar School we know today was born .
As a community , we will celebrate our past while keeping an eye on our exciting future . We have several events planned for our community this year , including our exciting Long Table Dinner Under the Stars .
dinner with Swan Valley wine , entertainment , dancing and a live band , as well as a live auction and silent online auction . Funds raised in the auctions will be directed to developing the School ’ s performing arts and sporting facilities .
We welcome the whole community to come together : current and past parents and staff , Old Guildfordians and all our friends , to celebrate our rich and vibrant history and commitment to educating boys and girls to become good citizens .
