Dads ’ Big Breakfast
At Guildford Grammar School , we acknowledge and extend our thanks for the support that we receive from our fathers , stepfathers , uncles , grandads and father-figures across our School . Their steadfast commitment to the care for our students plays a wonderful role in the strength of our proud and dynamic school community . To show our appreciation and love for all the dads at Guildford Grammar School , we celebrate annually with a Preparatory and Senior Dads ’ Big Breakfast event . The Dads ’ Big Breakfast provides an opportunity to join with the School in recognition for how much we value these figures in our lives , and to express just how much they all mean to us .
With spectacular weather and terrific food at each event , many gathered on the grounds to eat , chat , relax and create lasting memories with their families and friends . The serenity of our campus and quality of the music performances created a beautiful ambiance for our mornings of appreciation and celebration of fatherhood and guardianship .
The Senior School event concluded with the greatly anticipated tugof-war event . Here , everybody banded together and competed with their respective Houses in the hugely competitive feats of strength , with the winners to be presented with a trophy and bragging rights
as ‘ the strongest house ’. This year , as has been the case every year so far - Henn ’ s House were the victors with a superb performance , crowning them with tug-of-war supremacy once again .
As always , events such as these simply would not be possible without the support from our incredible catering and events staff , our fantastic grounds and maintenance teams , and of course FOPS and FOSS , for their time , effort and ongoing commitment in making these events such significant and memorable occasions for all .
From the P & F Society
It is surely cliched at this point , but 2020 has been both a challenging and exciting year for the P & F Society . As our daily lives changed and terms such as social distancing , zoom call and Pfizer became in vogue , the role of the P & F Society evolved with the times . This year , we are looking forward to the resumption of some normality and there are many activities during the start of the year to make note of .
During Term 1 , there are several important events on in the calendar which I encourage you to attend . The FOPS Welcome BBQ is a particularly important event . All members of the Preparatory School , both parents and students , are invited to attend this event to celebrate the start of the new school year . This allows everyone a fantastic opportunity to welcome new members of the Preparatory School community and for existing members to catch up following the busy holiday season . In the Senior School , the P & F Sundowner provides a similar opportunity for the Senior School community . This event provides a chance for all parents to get to know each other and discuss the start of a new year .
This year , Guildford Grammar School will be celebrating the 125th anniversary of the School ’ s founding , way back in 1896 .
There will be an abundance of events on in the School calendar to commemorate 125 years of the School . I strongly encourage all members of the School community to attend these events . It would be incredible if as many of you as possible were able to join us in honouring and celebrating this key moment in the life of our School and its history .
