David Taylor

Deputy Head of Preparatory in 2021
The new year calls for new opportunities ! Mr David Taylor commences the year in his new role of Deputy Head of Preparatory , working previously as the Head of Senior Primary and Year 6 Classroom Teacher in 2020 . When David is not having fun in the classroom , you can find him at home in the kitchen with his family .
Where did you work before Guildford Grammar School ?
I began my teaching career in London as a Year 1 Teacher for three years . I then worked in a local primary school in Melbourne ; Mount View Primary School as a Year 6 Teacher before most recently working at Georgiana Molloy Anglican School in Busselton for two years as a Learning Enrichment Teacher .
What are the values that drive you ?
Having fun and working in a fun environment . The relationships with students and colleagues and service to others .
What do you like most about your job ?
I love engagement in the classroom and with the school community – everything is dedicated to that within a School . I enjoy the holistic aspect of being in a school , as well as seeing growth and having an impact on others to achieve their goals . And of course , how fun it is .
What three words would you use to describe your role ?
Rewarding , relationships and fun .

What do feel gratitude for this year ?
The health and wellbeing of my family and myself . The school environment I am in – one that offers flexibility and is fortunate enough to have the opportunity to still deliver an outstanding education .
What do you enjoy doing when you are not working ?
I have three girls and enjoy spending lots of family time with them , especially during camping trips . I also enjoy golf , basketball and cooking during the holidays .
What was your most memorable moment from 2020 ?
The experience of remote learning and teaching without the students . I enjoyed being able to tap into my creative side and embraced the challenge of interacting with the students in a new way . However , I was happy it was only for a short period of time .
