AROUND THE SCHOOL
Cosi The Senior Drama production of Cosi by Australian playwright , Louis Nowra was a resounding success , showcasing the talents of two stellar casts .
Set in a mental asylum in the early 1970s , the play highlights the inequities and flaws of society ’ s approach to mental health care at the time . Nowra ’ s characters are recognisable as they wrestle with their own inner weaknesses , also underlining their poignant humanity , their dreams for a better life and the search for meaning .
Peter Pan The Junior Drama production of Peter Pan by J . M Barrie was a visual delight with a large cast filling the roles of the Darling family , Peter Pan , Tinker Bell , lost children , Indians , a crocodile and dog , guffawing pirates and mesmerising mermaids .
This wonderful fictional story of a boy who doesn ’ t want to grow up , living in Neverland with the lost boys , enjoying a life of never-ending adventure and fun . It represents the person who doesn ’ t want to take responsibility or grow up but remain shielded within the innocence of childhood .
The breadth of characters allowed for a large cast and an opportunity for students to perform , learn and be a part of the thriving arts at Guildford Grammar School .
Peter Pan
Pirates of the Curry Bean In Term 4 , a large cast of Preparatory School students from Years 3-6 presented the musical comedy , Pirates of the Curry Bean by Craig Hawes .
The 44-strong cast performed with unbridled enthusiasm and commitment , singing , dancing and embodying character with zeal . The production was accompanied and supported by a group of parents who decorated the foyer spaces of the
David Lawe Davies Centre , plus a group of students who operated the backstage under the guidance of old boy , Lawrence Bagg .
We will not forget Squawk the Parrot , Captain Redbeard , Admiral Horn Honker and the unruffled Captain Cod , flanked by sailors and swashbuckling pirates . Curry Bean was spectacular !
