PR E PA R ATORY S C HO OL Book Week We found our treasure at Book Week! Week 5 in Term 3 is always a favourite in the Preparatory School as it is Book Week! The theme for 2018 was Find your Treasure. In the lead up to Book Week there were some incredible conversations happening all around the Preparatory School with children identifying what their treasure was, to help with their fantastic costumes! Some ideas included their dads, holiday locations, toys, books and family – all insightfully identified as valuable treasures to our students. The week itself was a busy one, with several treasure hunts held across all parts of the school. Many of the students enjoyed the challenge of decoding a series of clues to help them find several letters hidden around the school. Once they had all the letters they had to unjumble them to work out what Guildford Grammar Preparatory School’s most valued treasure was. You will not be surprised to learn that the wonderful Mrs Filippi was identified as the valuable treasure! It was wonderful to watch the students purposefully exploring the campus as they 34 problem solved and persisted to work out the answer. The only complaint we received was from Pre-Primary, where we were told the hunt was too easy and that their nimble brains required a far more challenging puzzle! To end the week we held the highly anticipated Book Parade on the lawn outside the cafe. It was clear to see that some of our teachers love to dress up as much as the students; none more so than Mr Budler! For those who were able to attend it was an absolute joy to hear the laughs and the chatter as each year level, from Kindy to Year 6 paraded their costumes, showing off their creativity and fun! To finish off the week all students enjoyed a live performance by Perform Education! Their dramatic and highly engaging performance was catered to two different age groups and judging by the noise in Priestley Hall was enjoyed by all students! We would like to thank the FOPS for funding this wonderful and engaging event for our students. De Graber Preparatory School Librarian
