The Academic Honour Society Dinner
was held on the evening of Tuesday
7 August 2018 and attended by eleven
students, their families and a member of

The guest speaker for the evening was
Adrian Hickmott, a former Australian Rules
Footballer who played for Carlton and
Geelong in the AFL. Adrian is currently a
coach at the West Coast Eagles.
Lachlan awarded ADFA scholarship
Congratulations to 2018 Leaver Lachlan
Madden who has been awarded an
Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA)
Scholarship. The scholarship is awarded to
the top 50 applicants across Australia who
applied for officer training entry into ADFA
for 2019. Over 4000 people applied in
2018. Lachlan is following in the footsteps
of his Old Guildfordian father Craig (Wb 82-
86), who also received the scholarship when
he was in Year 12, entering ADFA in 1987.
Lachlan was presented with an iPad Pro,
a certificate and a framed plaque to
commemorate the achievement. Lachlan
entered Army Officer Training on 29 January
2019.
ADFA is Australia’s premier Military Officer
Training Academy for Navy, Army and Air
Force located in Canberra. Officer Cadets
attend ADFA for 3 years of military training
and university studies (BA, BSc or BEng).
They graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree
from the University of NSW.
