Stephen ‘ John ’ Tonkin ( He 1938-1942 ) celebrated his 95th birthday in December 2021 .
Albert Tan ( He 1963-1966 ) graduated in Science ( 1969 ) and Dentistry ( 1973 ) from The University of Western Australia ( UWA ), and commenced practice in Periodontics in Perth in 1978 , having completed his postgraduate training at The Royal Dental Hospital , University of London . He subsequently completed his PhD through the University of Queensland in 1990 . For over 40 years he has maintained his specialist private practice , together with an active role in teaching at UWA – at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels . In 2012 , Albert was inducted into The Campbell- Wilson Roll of Honour by the UWA Dental Alumni Society for his contribution to dental education in WA . He is currently an Adjunct Professor at the UWA Dental School . In 2021 , he was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia ( AM ). Albert has been a consultant periodontist at Perth Children ’ s Hospital ( PCH ) for over 40 years and remains committed to the care of children with special needs , especially in multi-disciplinary cleft lip and palate treatment . Trevor Rose ( Fr 1966-1970 ) currently lives in Pelican Point , Bunbury after retiring from his family ’ s dairy farm at Burekup . He has been married to Susan for 37 years and they have a son , two daughters and eight grandchildren . Trevor still does some part-time work driving a truck . Football is his main sporting interest , namely the South Bunbury Football Club of which he is a Life Member and Club Trustee . Over many years , Trevor has occupied the majority of roles at the Club , including President in 1989-1990 , with one of his proudest life moments being a Premiership in 1989 . As an inaugural Member of the West Coast Eagles , Trevor and Susan attend as many home games as possible , along with their youngest daughter who is a WCE tragic ! Upon leaving GGS he played cricket and hockey , and he still tries to attend as many firstclass games of both as he can .
David McMillan ( St / Ha 1963-1973 ) and wife , Janine , recently settled into their newly built home in Busselton . While the house was being built , they travelled , via caravan , to all corners of Western Australia over a 10-month period and they had a ball . After working for 40 years in forestry , David is now retired and enjoying life .
Michael McMullan ( St 1972-1976 ) sadly passed away , after a short illness , at Albany Hospice in October 2020 , aged 61 . He is survived by his wife , Jennifer , and son , Zearben .
Shane Harington-Hawes ( Wb 1982-1986 ) left Perth in 1995 bound for Sydney for a job as a cameraman on Beyond 2000 . He travelled via Melbourne and by the time he got to Melbourne the job no longer existed , so he decided to stay in Melbourne . He has been in the audio visual ( AV ) business in Melbourne ever since . Shane founded an AV rental business in 2003 which he ran for 10 years . In 2013 , he decided to learn the AV installation business with some long-time associates and started his own AV installation business on 1 July 2017 , called Cloud Audio Visual . 20-plus years of experience goes a long way and he is currently working nationally with some of Australia ’ s largest corporate organisations and government departments . Shane married Nuan in 2009 in Bangkok and they have three young children named Sunshine ( 11.5 ), Hugo ( 10 ) and Oakley ( 4.5 months ) with all ages as of September 2021 . They live a few minutes from the best beach in Melbourne and have two AirBNB listings ( Seaford , VIC ) which they absolutely love . Luke Hewitt ( Wb 1981-1986 ) performed in Black Swan Theatre ’ s production of Every Brilliant Thing , a unique one-person show “ with a story about life in all of its facets ; the good , the bad , the light , the dark ”, says Luke . His character , the Narrator , starts a list of every brilliant thing in the world after his mother attempts to take her life .
Gerren Goodwin ( Fr 1985-1989 ) has become Coach Captain at Villa Carlotta Travel , a company that specialises in providing exclusive Australian and worldwide holidays for the retired and semi-retired .
Jeremy Hurst ( Be 1986-1990 ) is a co-founder of SpacetoCo , an online booking system that allows anyone to share and book community spaces by the hour . He and the team were proud to be one of the winners at the 2021 National iAwards , receiving the award for the Government and Public Sector solution of the year . The iAwards is Australia ’ s longest running and most broadly scoped innovation recognition program , promoting excellence in the Australian digital ecosystem from the likes of Google Maps , Atlassian , Wotif and WiseTech Global .
Adrian Kemp ( Wb 1987-1991 ) is an economist based in Sydney and , in 2014 , he co-founded a firm of consulting economists called HoustonKemp Economists . The business advises on infrastructure , competition and economic regulation across the Asia-Pacific . After a four-year stint in Singapore , Adrian returned to Australia in early 2020 . He enjoys playing with big datasets , turning his mind to public policy problems and sailing whenever possible . Adrian regrets not being able to attend the Class of 1991 ’ s 30-Year Reunion this year , but he hopes it will be a little easier to get across the WA border in time for the 40-Year Reunion !
Burke Maslen ( Sc 1987-1992 ) was recently recognised by The West Australian ’ s Steve Butler as one of WA ’ s ‘ Bush Legends ’. Burke , the son of former WA Parliament MP Dudley Maslen , is a fourth-generation family member from Mardathuna Station in the Gascoyne .
Glen Wareing ( Wb 1988-1992 ) has been married to Mel for 18 years , with three children named Zac ( 16 ), Ace ( 14 ) and Tilly ( 9 ). After a year of a science degree , Glen left university to start a business called ‘ Joey Soft Serve Ice Creams ’, now Perth ’ s largest fleet of ice cream vans . In 2018 he established ‘ Joey ’ s Swan Valley Diner ’ an American 50s style restaurant . Glen would love to see Old Guildfordians drop in for a great burger , coffee or ice cream .
Raleigh Finlayson ( Sc 1989-1995 ) has become the Executive Director at Northern Star Resources Limited .
Muhammad ‘ Fahmi ’ Ahmad-Yussof ( SG 1991-1996 ) and wife , Rachel , welcomed their handsome little boy , Noah , to the world in August 2021 . They look forward to Noah meeting his Brunei family in the not-so-distant future .
