Barry Ninham
Stirling House 1945-1952
In 2014 he was appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia ( AO ) for distinguished service to physical sciences through landmark theoretical and practical advances in colloids and surfaces , and as an academic , educator and mentor . He is also the recipient of the Matthew Flinders Medal ( 2016 ), from the Australian Academy of Science , and the Centenary Medal ( 2001 ). He is an Emeritus Professor at the Australian National University ( ANU ). Barry founded ANU ’ s applied mathematics department in 1970 . ANU has created a professorship to honour him . He was selected the 2010 Old Guildfordian of the Year .

William Parks � 1909-1915
Boarder and Prefect , won thirteen academic prizes . Member of 1st XI Cricket 1912-1915 , 1st XVIII Football 1910-1915 , Rowing crew in 1915 and Athletics and Shooting teams 1912-1915 . Lance Corporal in the GGS Cadet Corps . After leaving the School , William attended evening classes at UWA , teaching in the day time first at Christ Church Preparatory School and for two terms at Guildford Grammar School . After winning the Rhodes Scholarship in 1917 he left in August to Join Worcester College at Oxford .

Famous Brigadier who served in the First World War and led 21st Brigade of the Second AIF during its defence of the Kokoda Trail during the Second World War .
Alexander Rance

Former player for Richmond in the Australian Football League . Rance was a five-time All Australian ( 2014 , 2015 , 2016 , 2017 , 2018 ), including being named Captain of the All Australian team in 2017 . Alex also played in the Richmond 2017 premiership team .

Australian freestyle swimmer of the 1950 ' s who won a gold medal in the 4x200m freestyle relay at the 1956 Olympics in Melbourne . He was the first Western Australian to win Olympic gold . 1955 School Captain .
Simon Ottaviano
Woodbridge House 1983-1985
He received a Commendation for Distinguished Service in the Australia Day Honours List for 2013 . As a Captain in the Royal Australian Navy , he was recognised for distinguished performance of duty in warlike operations , as Chief of Staff Headquarters Joint Task Force 633 , on Operation SLIPPER from July 2011 to January 2012 . Now a Commodore , he is currently serving as the Head of Logistics and Infrastructure . He was selected as the 2019 Old Guildfordian of the Year .

As a senior official at the Department of the Environment in the United Kingdom , he was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire ( OBE ) by Prince Charles in 1998 . He recently gave the School a copy of a new portrait of Randolph Stow which now hangs in the Senior Library .
John Roberts � St George ’ s House 1943-1947
Founding chairman and an executive director of the international construction company called Multiplex . John was passionate about horse racing and served as chairman of the WA Turf Club from 1984-1987 . In 1988 he was awarded an Officer of the Order of Australia ( AO ) for service to the construction industry and to the sport of horse racing .
