Karl Drake-Brockman � 1899-1910
Rhodes Scholar 1910 . Karl was awarded the Rhodes Scholarship in February 1910 and began at Exeter College , Oxford at the beginning of October . On arrival , he took up Rugby and was soon a full back for the 1st XV , which was an exceptional feat for someone who had played Australian Rules at school . He passed his finals in Law with First Class Honours . He was only the second Rhodes Scholar from WA to do so . After the outbreak of WWI Karl returned to England in 1915 and joined King Edward ' s Horse , 5th Royal Fusiliers , a regiment in which the majority of Rhodes ' scholars enlisted . He served as a puisne judge in New Guinea in 1921 .
Slade Drake-Brockman � Henn ’ s House 1926-1931
C . M . G , Chairman of the Western Australia Council . He became State Manager of WA in 1962 until his retirement from the company in 1978 . He spent five years in the AIF during WWII attaining the rank of Captain . Slade ' s greatest achievement was his appointment as Executive Chairman of Western Australia ' s 150th Anniversary Board formed to plan and conduct the celebrations . Slade ' s other roles included Honorary Consul General for Belgium in WA since 1974 ; Chairman of the Council for Nedlands College of Advanced Education ; Industry and Commerce Ambassador of WA Week ; Councilor Perth Chamber of Commerce since 1978 ; Executive for the American Chamber of Commerce 1963-67 ; Vice-Chairman WA Heart Foundation Appeal 1968-69 ; Chairman and Member to the Advisory Board 1964-72 ; and Chairman and President of the Save the Children Fund ( WA Division ). Slade was awarded the Companion of the Order of St Michael and St George ( CMG ) for his services to Western Australia on 31 September 1979 .
Thomas Drake-Brockman � School House 1933-1937
Senator for WA 1958-1978 . Minister for Air 1969-1972 . During World War II , he joined the Royal Australian Air Force ' s 460 Squadron in 1941 as Sergeant air-gunner and served in the Middle East , Malta and the United Kingdom . He was awarded a Distinguished Flying Cross in September 1944 . After the war he was a farmer and grazier and became vice president of the Australian Wool and Meat Producers Federation . Drake-Brockman was appointed to a casual vacancy as a Country Party senator on 12 August 1958 . His appointment expired at the 1958 election , when he was elected to the Senate , with effect from 1 July 1959 . He was appointed Minister for Air in John Gorton ' s second ministry . He remained minister until the defeat of the William McMahon government at the 1972 election . He was Minister for Aboriginal Affairs and Minister for Administrative Services in Malcolm Fraser ' s caretaker government after the dismissal of the Whitlam government , but was not reappointed to Fraser ' s ministry after the 1975 election . Drake-Brockman was made a Knight Bachelor in June 1979 .

Played 12 Sheffield Shield matches for Western Australia and was a member of the team in winning the Shield in 1971 / 72 and 1972 / 73 . Played 86 games with Claremont in the West Australian Football League ( WAFL ) between 1969-73 . In 1971 he won the Best and Fairest Award with the Claremont Football Club and captained the Club in 1972 and 1973 . Recruited by St Kilda in the Australian Football League ( AFL ), then known as the Victorian Football League ( VFL ), he moved to Melbourne in 1974 and finished the season as St Kilda ’ s leading goal kicker . In 1980 he was the clubs top vote getter in the 1980 Brownlow Medal and in the same year he earned an All Australian selection . In 1982 / 83 he captained the St Kilda Club . He moved to Footscray and played a further 26 games in 1983 / 84 . He represented Western Australia 7 times in State matches and the State of Origin carnival . Bruce is one of only four WA sportsmen in history who have played State cricket , State football , been a member of a winning Sheffield Shield team and earned All Australian selection in the AFL .

Graduate of the Army Command and Staff College and the Joint Services Staff College . 2005 Old Guildfordian of the Year .
Simon Eissens
Stirling House 1981-1985
A celebrated pitcher once called ' Mr Consistency ', Simon was born in Liverpool which allowed him to play for both Australia and Great Britain . He made his Australian Baseball League debut in the 1990 / 91 season and his superb performances saw him selected in the national team for the Barcelona Olympic qualifications in China . Simon later represented Australia at the 1994 Baseball World Cup in Managua , Nicaragua . A member of Team Australia in 1991 , 1992 , 1994 and 1995 , Simon also played for the British national team at the European Championships in 2003 in the Netherlands , and 2005 in the Czech Republic . Simon was a Claxton Shield Team Member for the state team , whether it be playing for the Perth Heat or the Western Heelers , from 1986-2007 . In 2006 , Simon held the record of 39 wins for WA ' s Heat and Heelers and he won Claxton Shield Championships in 1991 , 1997 and 2000 . Simon has also been inducted into the Baseball WA Hall of Fame .
