Harper House 1969-1972
Chief Designer and Designer of Record for Kookaburra I , II and III , the yachts used in the lead up to and in Australia ' s unsuccessful America ' s Cup defence in 1987 . To be eligible to compete in the America ' s Cup , Kookaburra III had to defeat Australia IV . Kookaburra III was also successful in winning Gold at the 12 Metre World Championships , Lulea , Sweden , in 1988 .
Albert Tan

Received a Member of the Order of Australia ( AM ) for ‘ significant service to tertiary dental education , and to periodontics ’. Research and teaching has been an integral part of Albert ' s professional life , having lectured extensively in national and international meetings and conferences , with involvement in professional organisations at all levels . He is a Past President of The Australian and New Zealand Academy of Periodontists ( ANZAP ). For his services to the Academy , he was honoured with Life Membership in 2017 . His research has resulted in numerous publications and he has also been a supervisor and examiner for numerous research projects undertaken by postgraduate students . He also mentors dentists pursuing postgraduate qualifications from the RACDS , and is currently on the Board of Studies in Periodontics .

Shane Tonkin
Stirling House 1986-1988
Known for his prowess on the mound as a pitcher , Shane originally played for the Perth Baseball Club and competed there from 1987-2003 . The club , with Shane dominant during this time , won premierships in 1994 , 1995 , 1996 and 1997 . With the arrival of the Australian Baseball League in 1989 , Shane was elevated to the Perth Heat and played there until 1999 , with Claxton Shield Championships in 1991 and 1997 . A member of Team Australia between 1993-2001 , Shane played at the 1993 International Cup in Italy , the 1994 International Cup in Japan , the 1994 World Cup in Nicaragua , the 1996 Honk Ball Tournament in the Netherlands , the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta , the 1997 World Championships in Barcelona , and the 2001 World Cup in Taiwan . At the 1996 Atlanta Olympics , Shane pitched with tremendous efficiency and recorded the lowest earned run average ( ERA ) of any Australian pitcher , which was 3rd overall in the world . In addition , Shane also played for international teams in Taiwan ( 1999 , 2000 ) and Italy ( 2001 , 2002 , 2003 ). He won a Taiwanese Major League Championship with Taipei Gida Suns in 2000 . Shane has also been inducted into the Baseball WA Hall of Fame .

Geoffrey Tunbridge
St George ’ s House 1943-1948
Played 117 VFL Games for Melbourne between 1957-1962 . He played in three premierships for Melbourne in the late 1950s , and snapped the winning goal in front of the largest ever home and away crowd in the history of the AFL ( a crowd of 99,346 attended the 1958 Melbourne vs Collingwood match at the MCG ), to give the Demons victory by three points .
Angus Turner

After winning a General Exhibition for the 1994 TEE Examination , Angus studied medicine at The University of Western Australia ( UWA ) and received a Rhodes Scholarship in 2001 . While attending UWA at St George ’ s College , Angus conducted the Choir and was elected Student President of the College in his fourth year . In 1998 he won the Dr Bill Jackson Rural Undergraduate Scholarship and travelled to Canada to study health problems faced by rural youth . He went to Oxford in September 2002 and then Melbourne to specialise in Ophthalmology . In 2010 Angus returned to WA after years of research into outreach eye service across Australia and established Lions Outback Vision at the Lions Eye Institute . As an Associate Professor , Angus was named ‘ First Amongst Equals ’ at the 2015 40under40 Awards . In 2019 he won the Professions Award at the Western Australian of the Year Awards . Angus completed the Avon Descent in both double and single kayak and organised kayaking expeditions for junior staff at the hospital . Angus joined Students and Practitioners Interested in Rural Practice , Health , Education Xetcetera ( SPINRPHEX ) Club , the WA branch of the National Rural Health Student Network which aims to address healthcare needs in rural Australia . He served on the Executive Committee for two years . With a passion for ophthalmology and inspired by the work of Rev John Flynn from the Royal Flying Doctor Service , he has treated eye disorders in Kununurra , Port Hedland and the Cocos Islands . Angus directs state-wide outreach services from a newly established Broome base . Angus was selected as the 2002 Old Guildfordian of the Year .
Carl Vine

He was appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia ( AO ) for distinguished service to the performing arts as a composer , conductor , academic and artistic director , and to the support and mentoring of emerging performers . Carl is a prominent composer and winner of the Don Banks Music Award 2005 . In 2001-2019 Carl was the Artistic Director of Musica Viva , the world ’ s largest chamber music entrepreneur .
