OLD GUILDFORDIANS
Competition’, held in Sydney in November
2019. The competition is focused heavily on
raising awareness for mental illness, and the
work submitted must adhere to this theme.
The theme for 2019 was ‘Songs that Heal’ and
Brandon submitted his track ‘My Way Through’.
The competition allows for a multitude of
genres and categories, and finalists are selected
from Australia’s major cities. A shortlist of
10 was nominated to perform in the grand
final and Brandon made this list. The overall
winner was provided with the resources to
professionally record their track.
Nicholas Jones (Former Staff 2003-2014)
Proud parents, Ian and Maddie, with
Ambrose the day of his Graduation at
Indiana University, USA, on 2 May 2019.
Systems in Clojure. Currently Ambrose is living
and working with his wife, Marcela, also a
Computer Scientist, in Bloomington, Indiana, in
the USA.
Zachary Acott (Sc 2002 -2008), after working
with the Fremantle Dockers for 4 years, then
as Competition and Pathways Manager
at Swimming WA, is now the Corporate
Partnerships and Business Development
Manager for Subiaco Football Club.
Sam Barnett (St 2004-2008) featured in
Echo Newspaper (22 June 2019) regarding his
role in ‘Lords and Ladies’ – a satirical comedy
production of Terry Pratchett’s acclaimed novel.
Sam played a dwarf, yet standing at six foot
one, he reports that he was “surprised with the
casting choice”.
Josh Chiat (Ha 2003-2009) featured in The West
Australian (18 July 2019) regarding his recent
appointment as Goldfields development officer
for Football West. Josh will be responsible for
identifying talented athletes and assisting with
player development in the Goldfields.
Ainslea Kipling (Prep 2004-2009) is in her
first year of a Bachelor of Surveying at Curtin
University.
Jarrad Martyn (He 2005-2009) featured in
Echo Newspaper, following the unveiling of
his latest artwork - an aviation themed 35 x 7
metre mural on the corner of Morrison Road
and Roe Highway in Midvale, Western Australia.
Wesley Kipling (SG 2003-2010) is a Second
Officer with Cathay Pacific.
Ethan Acott (Sc 2003-2012) has gained a
Bachelor of Science majoring in Maths and
Physics and then a Diploma of Education, both
from The University of Western Australia. He
now teaches years 10, 11 and 12 at Peter
Moyes Anglican School in Mindarie.
Oscar Wharton (Prep/Sc 1998-2012), made his
umpiring debut for the West Australian Football
League in the 2019 season.
Brandon Poletti (He 2009-2013) is a gifted
songwriter and guitarist who qualified for
the national ‘Listen Up Music Song writing
has been appointed as the next Principal at
Cathedral College Wangaratta, starting on 1
January 2020. Nick was formerly the Head of
Woodbridge House and Senior Head of House
at Guildford Grammar School, before taking on
the position of Deputy Principal - Pastoral Care
at John Wollaston Anglican Community School
in Western Australia. Moving east with Nick are
his wife, Jodie, and children Madeline and Luke.
With family ties to the region, they are looking
forward to joining the College’s community.
Zac Fisher (SG 2011-2015) has been
acknowledged by the Carton Football Club for
reaching 50 games in the Australian Football
League, where he has “provided no shortage of
highlights”. Zac has extended his contract with
Carlton, so he will be at the club until at least
the end of 2021.
Griffin Logue (SG 2011-2015) featured in
a video released by the Fremantle Football
Club detailing his Australian Football League
experiences so far. Griffin did well in 2019,
where he had “made a really good return to
football” after a congenital foot problem. His
contract has been extended, ensuring that he
will continue to play for at least another three
years at the club.
Jack Grant (Sc 2009-2016) has recently been
elected as the 2020 ‘Senior Student’ at St
Andrew’s College at the University of Sydney.
The Senior Student position is equivalent to the
President of the Students’ Club and this role
represents a significant leadership opportunity
for Jack.

Sam Taylor (Fr 2012-2016) featured in a Fox
Sports article (27 September 2019) highlighting
his accomplishments for the Greater Western
Sydney Giants. The article focussed on Sam’s
early football development and significant
contributions to GWS in the Australian Football
League, having played 21 of 25 games in 2019,
including all three finals. He was also featured
in an article by GWS where his talents were
further celebrated. Sam’s contributions to GWS
have been phenomenal, considering he’s just a
second-year player. It is reported that Sam is a
“much-loved member of the Giants team,” and
he has signed a contract securing him until at
least the end of 2022.
Zac Williams (Ha 2011-2016) has been
travelling around Europe working as a cycling
photographer. He expressed a passion for
photography through his years at Guildford
Grammar School and has created a Facebook
page (ZW Photography) showcasing his
incredible photography skills. In his travels, Zac
has covered the Tour de France, Road WC, Tour
of Britain, Vuelta, Giro as well as many other
events so far this year.
Jaden Dzubiel (He 2012-2017) featured in
a National Indigenous Times article about the
importance of giving back to the community and
taking every opportunity to test your abilities.
Jaedon Peters (SG 2007-2017) and his brother
Ethan Peters (SG 2007-2017) were both
involved in their first regatta together in the
same crew, representing the Canberra Rowing
Club on 20 October 2019. During their time at
Guildford Grammar School, both Jaedon and
Ethan made significant contributions to the
Rowing program and have both continued their
passion for rowing ever since. Jaedon rowed
in the 6 seat with Ethan in the 5 seat and both
proudly wore their Guildford ‘G’ cap in the
victorious Men’s B Grade VIII race.
Oscar Anderson (Fr 2012-2018) was selected
to represent Western Australia in the Under 18
State Rugby Team.
Jordan Clark (Ha 2017-2018) has received
high praise from a legendary Australian Football
League figure, Cameron Ling. Of those players
at the Geelong Football Club, Ling anticipates
that Clark is the most likely to have a break-
out season in 2020. Clark’s performances this
season have been remarkable, with Geelong’s
recruitment manager agreeing that Clark’s
“numbers, performances and character were
all compelling”. Ling reports that Clark had “a
really good first year” and signalled that he is an
integral member of the Geelong team.
Duke Gordon (St 2013 & 2016-2018)
represented Australia in the bow seat at the
2019 World Rowing Junior Championships in
Tokyo earlier this year, participating in the Men’s
Junior Four.
Nicholas Wright (Wb 2016-2018) was
declared winner of the Short Film category
at the 2019 HyperVision Exhibition. Nicholas
submitted his short film titled ‘Stained Lead’ – a
gangster noir film which he produced, directed,
filmed and starred in.
