Turning of the Soil:
Works starts on new co-educational world-class boarding facility
On Monday 14 October, soil was
officially turned on Guildford Grammar
School’s new state-of-the-art co-educational
boarding facility at a ceremony held at the
site of the new building. The soil was turned
by Headmaster, Mr Stephen Webber;
Fellow of Council, Mr Mitchell Wells
(He 85-92); Chair of the Guildford
Grammar Foundation, Dr Bill Ryan; 2019
Co-Captains of School, Nicholas Sheppard
(12He) and Rebecca Adamson (12SG);
Captain of Boarding, Zac Finlayson (12Sc),
and two brothers and sisters, Holly (8He) and
Blair Dunne (10He) and Robert (11He) and
Charlotte Harris (commencing in 2020),
who will be boarding together from next year.
The turning of the soil ceremony signifies
the commencement of the construction
project, which will be managed by FIRM
Construction.
The new facility will ultimately
accommodate approximately 130 boarders
and includes separate living areas for girls
and boys, with both single-sex and co-
educational social lounges. The facility will
be located on the northern side of Terrace
Road, providing stunning views across
the Swan River flats, looking out over our
100-hectare campus to the river.
The first intake of 12 female boarders
will join the School in 2020 and will be
accommodated in their own separate wing
in the Graham Malcolm Junior Hall of
Residence until the completion of the new
facility in 2021.
Headmaster, Mr Stephen Webber said,
“We are very excited to be commencing
the building of our new world-class co-
educational boarding development.”
