Quarter Athletics Carnival
By Grace Willing (Year 6)
On August 28-29 and September 5, we
had our amazing Quarter Athletics Carnival.
We all did an incredible job, with South
Quarter finishing in first place overall. The
final points on the day were:
• 4th Place - North with 2,748 points
• 3rd Place - West with 2,928 points
• 2nd Place - East with 2,947 points
• 1st Place - South with 3,430 points
Well done everyone for having a go!
Record Breakers
Armani Watson, Year 6 South, is at the top
of the chain! She broke five records in total
including:
• 100m record set by Lemarna Valentine
(8Wb) in 2017. Armani’s new record is
14.60 seconds
• Long jump record set by Lemarna
Valentine (8Wb) in 2017. Armani raised
it up to 8.14 metres
• Triple jump record set by Lemarna
Valentine (8Wb) in 2017. Armani raised
it to 4.07 metres.
• 200m record set by Lemarna Valentine
(8Wb) in 2017. The new time is 30.99
seconds
• 60m hurdles record set by Hannah
Sivic (Prep 09-14) in 2014. Armani cut
the record to 10.05 seconds!
Great job Armani! But we also had some
other record breakers on our track, including
Scott Armstrong (Year 2) who broke the
100m record set by Jack Greenwood
(Year 4) in 2017 at 18:25 seconds and
Austin Barrett, Year 1, who broke Xavier
Silvestri’s (Year 3) 2018 record at 13.53.
I hope you are all proud of your
accomplishments. A big thank you to
Mr Griffiths, Mrs Hewett, GGPS Staff,
FOPS, and finally to all the parents who
came out to cheer everyone on!

... and play!
Our Senior and Preparatory
School students enjoyed an
‘Eat and Greet’ session at the
Preparatory School in September,
where our youngest and oldest
students shared some stories,
laughs, jokes and most importantly
the playground equipment!
This event was a great success and
will certainly be included in the
calendar for 2020!
