SENIOR SCHOOL
accommodate both genders together as
they would in the family home.
The design of the building allows for
students to feel safe in age and gender
specific areas while supporting staff to
effectively supervise interactions in the
many co-educational spaces. By creating
such an environment the many brothers
and sisters who will board here will be able
to live together, as they do at home, not
segregated on the basis of their gender.
Having been involved in a boys only
boarding program for the past seven years, I
can already see the advantages our boarders
will have by interacting with girls on a daily
basis. This environment will allow both
boys and girls to learn from and with each
other, gaining different perspectives on
the countless hurdles they must navigate
together on their boarding journey. As a
father of a boy and two girls I believe it is
incredibly important for the students’ social
and emotional development to take place
in a world that reflects the reality of which
they will eventually live and hopefully thrive.
