SENIOR SCHOOL Mock Trial 2015 The Mock Trial activity is pretty much what the name suggests – Year 10, 11 and 12 students from schools across Perth have set criminal or civil scenarios, or cases, that are contested in the Supreme Court. Teams of six students, comprising two Barristers, a Solicitor, a Judges Associate/Court Orderly, and two witnesses compete to win the case, as well as scoring points as judged by a real Barrister acting as a Judge. So it is part acting, part role-modelling, and intellectually matching wits and minds against other school’s teams. There is a strict formality attached to the Trials, as per real-life courtrooms, and in most instances, you would be hard-pressed to Counselling Services in any given year, and this is not including those students who access counselling out of school. There are many people here at the School that students can turn to for support: friends, teachers, Mentors, Heads of Houses, Chaplains, Nurses, and of course, School
