It is with deep sorrow that we heard about the death of Queen Elizabeth II . Our sadness at that time was shared by the entire Keele community and people across Staffordshire , the country , and the world , as we remembered the lifetime of service given by Her Majesty . On behalf of our staff , students , and alumni of Keele , I extended our deepest condolences to the Royal Family and we wished them strength during that sad period .
We were honoured that Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip visited Keele in 1999 , and many staff look back fondly at the visit .
As a mark of respect , the Union Flag flew at half-mast over Keele Hall and did so until the day of Her Majesty ’ s funeral . There was also a Service of Remembrance in the Chapel for members of the campus community .
