Succumb by the desire to obtain “cute” shoes many people disregard the importance of comfort. The craving for fancy shoes is understandable, but certain considerations should be made before you settle on the most glamorous pair of shoes.

•How long will you be stuck in your shoes? This should include time getting ready, possibly helping set up and clean up for the wedding, and not just the allotted time for the ceremony and reception.

•Do you have time to break the shoes in? NEVER wear brand new shoes to a wedding. Wear your shoes prior to the event; doing this will allow you the opportunity to go out and purchase another pair of shoes if they are painful.

•Have you worn shoes like this (backless, high heels, etc) before? If you have not you will need time to practice. Whether you are the bride or a bridesmaid, you don’t want to walk awkwardly on the special day.

The guestbook is something that people have come to expect at a wedding. Today a guestbook serves simply as a nice reminder of who attended the wedding. However, it didn’t begin that way. The guestbook was originally designed to keep record of all the witnesses to the union. It was something was mandatory that tradition has adopted and changed over time. In addition to no longer being regulated to keep record of witnesses, it also no longer has to be an actual book. There are many variations of the guestbook that time and creativity has brought us.

There are so many options you can use in place of a book of signatures. There are also many ways to spruce up that plain book if you’d prefer to stick closer to tradition. Listed are just a few examples:

•Personalized photo book, where guests sign around the picture of their choice

•An enlarged picture matted extra wide (3 inches+), allowing adequate space for signatures in the matted

•A picture surrounded by an engravable metal. Guests use a special pen that etches their signature into the shiny border. It is simple and easy.

•Postcards guests can sign or write advice on that are later made into a scrapbook style guestbook

•Creating a collage guest can sign

Some people assume or get it in their head that nice shoes automatically mean heels. This is just not the case. There are plenty of choices for bridal shoes. If heels are within your comfort zone I see no problem with it. However, for a lot of people heels do pose potential problems that could be avoided by just avoiding heels completely. Don’t confine yourself to wearing a pair of shoes that will leave you uncomfortable and that you may have difficulty walking in.

It is your wedding; the most important thing is that it is what you want. If you want heels do not let this article detour you. Pick the shoes you want, just choose responsibly.

There are so many more options. All you have to do is look. The possibilities are only limited by your creativity. Many alternatives are nice to the wallet as well; many can be DIY projects. If none of these ideas are for you just browse the internet and you undoubtedly will find even more ideas.
