Rona Hassan is currently studying for her FdSc in forensic and crime scene investigation at City and Islington College, London.

Rona is the current (2014) Gold Medal winner in the forensic science competition.

I entered the Forensic Science competition at WorldskillsUK because I wanted to improve my knowledge in forensic science as well as increase my confidence.

I was nervous about entering and during the heats, but I believe this was an invaluable experience as it helped me to control nerves under pressure. I feel time management is a very important factor during the competition.

It gave me extended experience in a crime scene setting and all the other stages a SOCO would have to experience within their job.

I think the competition was a great way to meet and talking to people already established in industry and to identify the key skills required to excel in a forensic setting.
