As part of the Prep’s 175th Anniversary and in honor of her
brother’s 55th reunion, Marion Driscoll committed a pledge of
$125,000 to help support Fordham Prep’s endowment in order
to assist with the financial aid of academically deserving young
men. The fund was established in 2015 and is awarded annually
to students who show their desire to receive a Fordham Prep
education with demonstrated academic achievement, strong work
ethic and moral compass, but who otherwise would be unable to
attend Fordham Prep without financial assistance. Preference is
given to students who are in the top 15% of their class. Established in 1991 by Robert James ’53 to honor his mother,
Mildred, this scholarship is intended to allow the son of a
working mother to attend Fordham Prep who otherwise
might not be able to do so. Mildred James, a successful
businesswoman, extended her career to enable her son to
attend the Prep instead of the tuition-free Bronx High School
of Science.
