Established in 2010 by friends and family to honor John J. Vrionis
‘64, this scholarship is to be awarded to “a student in good
academic standing, with financial need, who has demonstrated a
love of sports or exhibited courage in the face of adversity.” A
standout at the Prep, John was elected to the College of the Holy
Cross Hall of Fame for football and lacrosse. He is a former Navy
helicopter pilot, successful sales manager and dedicated
volunteer in Veterans Administration hospitals.
Robert C. Murray ’64 Award

Established in 2017 in his memory by friends and family so that
the Prep community might reflect on Bob's devotion to country,
courage, love for neighbor and final sacrifice, the Murray Award
is symbolized by a bronze medallion inscribed with the words
“Courage, Love, Sacrifice” and includes a scholarship for college
and honorary membership in the Class of 1964. SSgt. Murray
was killed on June 7, 1970 after throwing himself onto a live
grenade in order to save the soldiers he was leading. He was
posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for his heroism.
