PAST AND PRESENT BENEFACTORS
Fordham Prep’ s total endowment fund is comprised of 124 different funds. We are pleased to recognize and thank publicly the many individuals, families and foundations that have made our current endowment possible. We are truly grateful for their remarkable generosity and far-sightedness. The current market value appears below each fund name and represents the audited value of the fund at the end of the 2016-2017 fiscal year.
Robert H. Abplanalp’ 39 Scholarship Fund $ 260,708 total
Established in 2015 as part of Fordham Prep ' s 175th Anniversary by the generosity of the Hudson Valley National Foundation, which had maintained an annual scholarship in Mr. Abplanalp ' s name shortly after his death in 2003. This fund was obtained through direct donations from the many friends, colleagues and family of Mr. Abplanalp, and will provide scholarships for worthy students at Fordham Prep. This fund is intended to ensure that Mr. Abplanalp ' s memory as a proud graduate and supporter of the continuation of mission and ministry lasts in perpetuity at Fordham Prep.
Edwin J. Adlerman‘ 89 Scholarship Fund $ 278,505 total $ 276,538 new contributions
The Edwin J. Adlerman’ 89 Scholarship fund was established in 2017 by Ewin Adlerman as part of the Prep’ s Igniting Our Mission Campaign. The scholarship is awarded annually to students who evidence their desire to receive a Fordham Prep education with demonstrated academic achievement, strong work ethic and moral compass, but who otherwise would be unable to attend Fordham Prep without financial assistance. When possible, the scholarship is awarded to a graduate of the REACH program.
Rev. John Alexander, SJ Scholarship Fund $ 305,107 total
Established in 1998 to honor Father Jack Alexander, this endowment provides for student scholarships through the generosity of Walter Gollinge, a Brooklyn Prep alumnus. Father Alexander was the last headmaster of Brooklyn Prep before its closing in 1972.
The Altman Foundation Scholarship Fund $ 206,549 total
Established in 1998 by the Altman Foundation, this fund was created“ to build endowment for scholarships for disadvantaged inner-city students” in order to attend Fordham Prep. The Altman Foundation was established in 1913 under Benjamin Altman’ s will“ for the benefit of such charitable and educational institutions in the City of New York as [ sic ] directors shall approve.”
Barbara and Stephen Amoretty’ 58 Scholarship Fund $ 83,759 total
Established in 2014, this scholarship supports a partial-tuition scholarship for an academic scholar. The fund will grow incrementally over time to a level that will support a full-tuition scholarship in a trust which named Fordham Prep as the sole beneficiary.
William and Kimberly Anderson Strategic Initiatives Fund $ 78,996 total $ 76,251 new contributuons
The fund was established by Bill and Kim Anderson in 2016 and supports two areas of Prep education, student scholarship, and the Squash program. The William and Kimberly Anderson Endowed Scholarship provides support for qualified students with financial need to attend the Prep. The William and Kimberly Anderson Endowed Squash Fund provides funding for the Prep’ s Squash program.
The Bastianich and Friends Scholarship Fund $ 1,074,179 total $ 54,500 new contributions
Established in 2014 by Deanna and Joe Bastianich’ 85 P’ 18,‘ 20 and his mother, Lidia P‘ 85 GP’ 18,’ 20, this fund provides tuition assistance“ to families who cannot otherwise afford a Fordham Prep education.” A celebrated restaurateur and author, Joe stars in CNBC’ s Restaurant Startup and Masterchef Italia television shows. Noted chef and author, Lidia has been a fixture on PBS cooking shows since 1998. Their B & B Hospitality Group is comprised of thirty acclaimed restaurants world-wide. Their“ friends” are guests and patrons who supported the fund during special dining experiences at the family’ s Del Posto restaurant.
