Admissions Report
By the time you read this message, acceptance letters( and emails!) will have gone out to those applicants who will eventually come together and form the Fordham Prep Class of 2021. Right now in the Admissions Office, we are busy processing applications and waiting for our delivery of the entrance exam results, including the TACHS from the Archdiocese of New York.
This fall was like many others: we hosted over 350 prospective students as part of our“ Ram for a Day” program and are prepared to host 100 more after decisions are delivered. On Sunday, October 30th, we hosted another successful Open House. Over 1,300 people, including 590 prospective students, toured the Prep and met students, faculty, staff and parents. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Fordham Prep remains one of the top high school choices for young men in the tri-state area. I also personally visited many schools and attended a number of high school fairs in the Bronx, Westchester, Manhattan and Fairfield County... and my E-ZPass proves it!
This fall, we made efforts to remind our wonderful feeder schools that they also are part of the Fordham Prep mission. In keeping with our celebration of our 175th year, I spent a great deal of time reflecting on the schools that send us their boys. There are over 260 different schools represented by our current students. The top 10 % of this list accounts for almost half of our student body. There are over 105 schools on this list that claim one student in the building currently. These schools are also valued partners in our mission, and we thank them for all they do to prepare boys to find their way to Rose Hill!
We are preparing for Registration Day on March 1st, 2017 for the Class of 2021. Accepted applicants will hear from current students, current parents, alumni and friends, and they will be reminded what a special place Fordham Prep is, a community that I have always felt blessed to be part of.
Finally, we have spent a lot of time this year asking prospective students about the reasons they are interested in the Prep and, specifically, how they first heard about our community. The overwhelming answer to this question is that they heard about us from someone already in our school. Word of mouth is by far our best marketing tool. So thank you to all alumni, faculty, staff, parents and friends of the Prep for spreading the word so well. In this and every other admissions season, I am thankful for all of you!
