Admissions Decisions:
The Class of
2023
When admissions decisions for the
Fordham Prep Class of 2023 were released
in January via email, it was the culmination
of the high school admissions season that
began in earnest just five months earlier
in September. During the fall, Mr. Brad
Serton ’95, Director of Admissions, and
Mr. Corey Punter ’07, Associate Director of
Admissions, spent many days and nights
on the road meeting prospective students
and their families at high school fairs and
in-class visits. The pair traveled across the
tri-state area to talk about what makes the
Fordham Prep experience so unique. “First
and foremost, the Fordham Prep experience
is uniquely Jesuit. Our commitment to
the idea of cura personalis permeates
everything we do both inside and outside
of the classroom,” explains Mr. Serton.
“Fordham Prep students are cared for on
an individual basis and allowed to grow and
develop in their own way. It is also an added
bonus that we accomplish this on one of
the best high school campuses in the area,
the Rose Hill Campus, right next door to
Fordham University.” This message clearly
hit home for many families across the
region. Fordham Prep received applications
from 12 different counties in the tri-state
area and over 230 different schools. These
included Catholic, public, private and charter
schools. In keeping with the diversity of the
NHS
Scholarship
Lucas Chu ’19 has been selected as an NHS
Scholarship recipient. Lucas was chosen
from more than 11,000 applicants and
will receive a $3,200 scholarship toward
higher education. He will be attending
Harvard University in the fall. Recipients
are chosen based on their demonstrated
work to support the four pillars of NHS:
scholarship, service, leadership and
character. Congratulations, Lucas!

applicants, over 40% of the registered Class
of 2023 identify themselves as persons of
color. Twenty-two percent of the class had a
father, grandfather, uncle or brother attend
the Prep. “The applicant pool for the class
was extremely deep this year,” said Dr.
Joseph Petreillo ’98, Principal. “We were
thrilled to see that so many students from
around the tri-state area connected with the
Fordham Prep message. Clearly, the work
that our exemplary faculty and staff do each
day with our young men attracts talented
applicants.”
Service Projects
During the month of April, we
encouraged our alumni, families,
and friends across the country to
participate in service projects in their
own local communities and share their
experiences with the rest of the Prep
community. For those nearby, the Prep
hosted a Day of Service on Sunday,
April 14. The Fordham Prep community
came together to perform community
service at St. Ignatius School and
Concourse House in the Bronx.
