Athletics John Holland signs with the Boston Celtics John Holland graduated from Fordham prep in 2006. He played one year on the frosh, one year on the JV, and two years on the Varsity basketball team. John had an excellent year as a senior, averaging 15.5 points, eight rebounds, eight assists and three steals a game. He earned a mcDonald's All-American nomination. John did one year of post-grad study at St. Benedict's prep in new Jersey, primarily to play basketball. A year later, he was playing at Boston university on a full athletic scholarship. As a junior, John led the America east Conference in scoring with 19.2 points per game. He repeated as scoring champion as a senior in 2010-11 after again averaging 19.2 points. He was subsequently named the America east Conference men's Basketball player of the Year and led the Terriers to an nCAA Tournament berth. After graduation, John played ball in France, Spain, France again, and Turkey. in the summers, he had stints in the nBA Developmental League on the teams of the San Antonio Spurs, minnesota Timberwolves and the Oklahoma Thunder. He played this past winter for the Canton Charge of the nBA Developmental League. John signed with the Boston Celtics on April 11th. 6th Ram Dinner more than 50 basketball alumni and their guests attended the First Annual Fordham prep Basketball Alumni Sixth ram recognition Dinner. Former coach and current faculty member Charles Sullivan, SJ was the first recipient of the recognition Award. Sixth ram Chairman Bill mcLoughlin ’87 announced at the dinner that the recognition award will be named in honor of Father Sullivan. A plaque with the list of top scorers has taken its place in the Higgins gymnasium.
