Members of the Prep community rose to the occasion on
November 27 for our #GivingTuesday Love the Prep? Help the Prep!
24-hour fundraising campaign. We had record-breaking results:
350+ gifts and over $175,000 raised to support the Prep. Many
alumni took advantage of the opportunity to get some payback
for their own time spent in jug and donated during our most
popular promotion, "Get Out of JUG," to release grateful
students from jug. Our class parent challenge was won by the
freshmen and they celebrated after school with free cookies in
the Hall of Honor.
Fordham Prep and NYU Langone Medical Center collaborated in
bringing awareness to headaches, migraines and concussions.
As part of a STEAM initiative at the Prep, Dr. Mia Minen, a
neurologist, taught Studio Art 2 students about the relationship
between headaches and the arts.
Thank you to everyone whose spirit of generosity and fun made
#Giving Tuesday at Fordham Prep a great day!
Faith on Tap, co-sponsored by the Fathers’ Club and the Office of
Mission and Identity, brings together parents, faculty and alumni
for a conversation about a contemporary faith issues. It is an
opportunity to meet new people and build community, as well
as to share our heritage and broaden our understanding of
contemporary faith issues. The format of a typical evening
includes a brief presentation from a guest speaker and time for
questions and discussion, after which everyone is free to stay
for more food, drink and conversation.

During Hispanic Heritage Month, the Dr. Dave Gelpi and the Prep
community raised $3,026 for Hurricane Maria relief efforts in
Puerto Rico. The funds were donated to San Juan’s Colegio San
Ignacio de Loyola to assist with their outreach.
This year’s speaker was Dr. Martin Carney, a 24-year member of
the Prep’s Religious Studies and Campus Ministry Departments.
He spoke about his love of birding and how he finds God
through this hobby, which has become a passion. He invited
participants to reflect on what their hobbies and avocations
have to teach us about where God can be encountered.
