phases of the East Wing Project. Thus begins a
renovation of nine classrooms, our administrative
center, our nurse’s office, and the creation of two new
classrooms, a counseling center, and a dedicated
admissions suite and welcome area for prospective
families and students.
To accommodate these dramatic changes, we will expand
our physical plant for the second time in 10 years. You
may recall our first expansion involved moving upward:
eight years ago, we constructed the Boller Science Center
by building a fourth floor on the Prep’s existing roof. For
the East Wing Project, we will push out the east envelope
of the building and move toward the University’s tennis
courts. With this three story expansion and the removal
of an internal elevator, we will create larger classrooms
and improve the flow of student traffic in several interior
corridors.

Igniting Our Mission, Fordham Prep’s current strategic
plan, invites us to develop a learning environment that
reflects excellence and brings our facilities into standards
we expect of a state-of-the-art 21st century Jesuit
secondary school serving an enrollment of 1,000
students.
When Fordham Prep’s Shea Hall was built in 1972, it

push our students to grow and embrace excellence in
learning and to exceed college-ready standards of
academic achievement. It is fitting that the learning
environment in which our students study reflects this
excellence, which is a hallmark of the Jesuit educational
At an approximate total cost of $5 million, the East Wing
Project is the most ambitious and exciting aspect of this
area in our strategic plan. Two summers ago, we
completed the first of three phases of the East Wing
Project. It included a stunning new worship space which
serves as our daily Mass chapel, a new religious studies
center and group study spaces to facilitate collaborative
learning. tradition to which we belong.
This March, we break ground for the second and third men to come.

Your generosity makes our aspiration to excellence
possible. Thus far, nearly $4 million of the $5 million cost
has been committed by alumni and parent donors. As
always, I am profoundly grateful for your generosity. As
we plan the next two phases, please consider how you
can make a difference in helping us reach this worthy
goal and improve Fordham Prep for generations of young
