Patrick continued, “I have taken all of these lessons to heart
and continue to row and train because the structure and
determination helps me succeed. A life without rowing, for me,
is one which is sorely lacking in passion.”
When the opportunity presented itself to support the Crew
program through an endowed gift, the Fowleys seized the
opportunity. “The endowment gave us the opportunity to leave a
permanent legacy,” Ms. Fowley states. “When my father passed
away, I thought that we could do something to put our name, his
name, on something that continues to mean so much to Patrick
and me.”
Patrick added, “The goal of this endowment is to provide a better
experience for the Prep’s rowers.”
Ms. Fowley continued, “I hope that we can help ease the financial
burden of future Prep parents. We also hope the endowment
will be able to fund educational enrichment for things like diet
and proper nutrition, as well as assistant coaches.”
Killen knows the Fowleys’ gift comes from the love of rowing and
Fordham Prep. “It’s something we are truly grateful to receive,”
he concluded.
The rowing team has its official season in the spring.
