SPRING SPORTS RECAP

Eamonn Sullivan ’ 21
With the delay and adjustment of the sports seasons due to COVID-19 , Fordham Prep ’ s spring sports season was abbreviated by the CHSAA and New York City Department of Health . This forced the cancelation of several fall and winter sports , including football and basketball . Wrestling took place in the spring and outdoors . The eight spring sports were able to have a 2021 season , somewhat making up its lost 2020 season .
Baseball
The varsity team finished the season with a 5-3 record good for 3rd place in the CHSAA Bronx Division . They lost to Kennedy Catholic in the first round of the baseball playoff .
Crew
At the New York State Scholastic Rowing Association Championship Invitational , the freshman 4 earned a silver medal and the U174 rowed to a scholastic bronze medal .
Golf
The varsity team lost to Monsignor Farrell in the semi-final round of the playoffs on Wed 6 / 2 .
Lacrosse
Varsity lacrosse finished the season with a 4-9 record . They battled Archbishop Stepinac in the semi-final of the CHSAA “ AA ” playoffs where they lost 12-10 .
Rugby
JV Rugby team defeated Xavier on Thurs 5 / 20 to highlight the successful season .
Tennis
The varsity team finished as the runnerup in the CHSAA “ A ” division after falling to St . Francis Prep in the championship game .
Track and Field
Freshman team ended the season as the Freshman CHSAA Catholic Champions as the JV team finished 2nd . The varsity team had great performances at the Varsity CHSAA Catholic Championship which included Eamonn Sullivan ’ 21 winning the steeplechase . Michael Croke ’ 22 and Carter Tresgallo ’ 22 finished 2nd and 3rd respectively in the Pole Vault . Quinn Kennedy ’ 22 finished 3rd in the 110m HH . Eamonn Sullivan and Myles Hogan will both travel to Eugene , Oregon to compete at the historic Hayward Field on the campus of Oregon University .
Volleyball
In a shortened season , the varsity team opened the season with two victories over Salesian and St . John ’ s Prep while competing against Iona Prep and Regis .
