1962

Patrick Swift ’ 62 recently retired from his position at WNYW Fox Broadcasting after 44 years and is looking forward to the next act in his life .
Jim Buckman ’ 62 was recently awarded the Victory Bell Award by Fordham University for his contributions in launching the New Era Fund which supports Fordham ’ s men ’ s and women ’ s basketball programs .

1969

Michael Doyle ’ 69 and Acheson Doyle Partners Architects ( ADP ) and the firm recently received a Chairman ’ s Award from the NY Landmarks Conservancy for its accomplishments in the architectural realms of hospitality , education , and sacred sites . Doyle , a principal and founder at ADP , delivered the acceptance speech on behalf of the firm .
Members from the class of 1969 gathered for their yearly Christmas Dinner at Ciao ’ s Restaurant . This year 32 classmates came together for dinner and were joined by President Anthony Day . A few alumni even traveled from Virginia , Florida , and Colorado to attend !

1976

The books collected during the “ Helping a Ram Brother Help Others ” Drive ( as well as the Prep ’ s pledge of additional support ) were delivered to Hall of Honor inductee and founder of the Covenant School , Matt Fitzsimons ’ 76 , by the Prep ’ s archivist , Louis DiGiorno ’ 88 P ’ 26 , and former Prep faculty member Ryan Fedak ’ 09 . Matt was so very grateful for the generosity of the Fordham Prep Community . He went on to note that his short time at the Prep — he only came here for one year after his first high school closed in 1975 — has changed his whole life . He credits his lifelong Prep friends and this extraordinary community of “ Men for Others ” for supporting his efforts to educate deserving children — first in Hartford and now in Bridgeport .

1978

Frank Silva ’ 78 ’ s son Julian transferred to GA Tech for Computer Engineering from Kennesaw State University after making the Dean ’ s List . His daughter , Renee , graduated from MIT and now works for Microsoft . Frank is enjoying retirement , and his wife , Dr . Johnette Brown-Silva , still works as a Scientist at USDA .

Ted Cleary ’ 83 has published a novella titled At the End of the World through Silver Song Press .
John Nicholas ’ 83 , owner of East Hampton Shucker Co ., has developed a new kind of oyster shucking tool , one that takes the risk out of opening and eating oysters . This tool has been patented as the “ East Hampton Shucker ” and John hopes that it allows more people to more easily and safely enjoy oysters as well as help expand oyster businesses , which would have the added effect of cleaning waterways since oysters are natural algae filters . Jim Salerno ’ 83 was recently honored with a Veritas Award by the Dominican Sisters of Sparkill at the Sparks of Light Gala . Jim is the CFO for Frankie ’ s Place Counseling & Prevention Services in Fort Meyers , Florida , his wife Michelle runs this facility and together they work with clients who need mental health , addiction , and substance abuse services . Jim has been involved with the Sisters of Sparkill since grammar school and has been working on a sainthood cause for a former parish priest at St . Brendan ’ s .

Nick Katsoris ’ 84 is the founder and President of the Loukoumi Foundation , an organization that recognizes the importance of youth participation in community building . Recently at the 9th Annual Loukoumi Foundation Make a Difference Awards , Fordham Prep was honored alongside 14 children , schools , and organizations that are changing the world one good deed at a time .
