Alfonso ’ 24 discovered track and became a star scholar athlete at Fordham Prep thanks to Mr . George Febles P ’ 15 ,’ 22 , legendary track coach and Hall of Honor inductee — one member of a trifecta of supporters who would help Alfonso clear a major hurdle in life .
process , so he sought guidance from Mr . Febles , Mr . Tejeda ’ 07 , his college counselor , and Colin Flynn ’ 07 , a pivotal mentor he met through the Prep ’ s George Jackson ’ 76 Scholarship Initiative . Together , they helped Alfonso discern his long-term goals and navigate scholarship opportunities . Today , he is a two-time All-American , ready to take the field and study physics and engineering at Williams College and Columbia University in a five-year program beginning in September .
